Remarks by High Representative Mogherini at the EU hosted high-level event on Syria in the margins of the 72nd UN General Assembly
The war in Syria is not over yet. The people of Syria are still suffering. And every day the social and economic fabric of Syria suffers new damage. And as the war in Syria continues, the recovery would be much, much slower, and reconciliation more difficult and more painful. Millions of refugees are eager to go back to their country, to their communities and to their normal lives. Also for them, and also for the incredible solidarity and resilience shown by their host communities in neighbouring countries, Syria has to find its way out of war, rise from its ashes and start anew.

The EU and its Member States will be ready to help shape that process with an open mind.
Statement by the HR/VP Federica Mogherini on the launch of a ballistic missile over Japan by the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea
Today’s launch by the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (DPRK) of another Ballistic Missile over Japan is a new outrageous provocation. The security of the DPRK’s immediate neighbours, the wider region and the entire international community is threatened. The DPRK’s international obligations are breached.
The EU today added new entries to its target list of people and entities linked to the North Korean regime, as the international community ups the pressure in response to yet another missile launch today by Pyongyang, which EU High Representative Mogherini labelled an "outrageous provocation". The EU is also working on additional autonomous restrictive measures, with the aim of peaceful, verifiable and irreversible denuclearisation."
